Rewilding Day

Doddington Hall

16 October at 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

£95
Landowners & Managers Rewilding Day

This workshop is specifically for landowners, managers and farmers who want to understand more about rewilding, rewetting and other ecosystem and social services that their land could perform and how such initiatives can be financed. Owners James and Claire Birch will be delivering the day with support from the Wilder team.

We will start with a presentation about Wilder Doddington, detailing how we came to take the decision to end conventional arable farming and explaining the underlying principles of how Wilder Doddington works. We will then have a walking safari to see what is happening on the ground and to meet some of our key habitat creators and ecosystem engineers – Lincoln Red cattle, Exmoor ponies and curly-coated pigs.

This will be followed by lunch in our Grain Store showcasing our beef and Kitchen Garden produce.

After lunch, owner James Birch will share insights into the finances underpinning Wilder Doddington and give his perspectives on the wider opportunities for attracting investment into nature recovery, water management, carbon and biodiversity. Claire Birch will talk about funding available to private landowners from The National Lottery Heritage Fund and other sources.

At the end of the day attendees will have increased understanding of rewilding, nature recovery, the processes and the finances underpinning it.
