Royal Air Force College Cranwell is probably the most famous landmark in RAF history. Cranwell Aviation Heritage Museum portrays the fascinating story of this historic establishment from its early days as a Royal Naval Air Service base to the current day. The experience includes interactive exhibits including a Jet Provost flight simulator, Vampire T11 Cockpit, exhibitions and artefacts. There is also a courtyard area with a Jet Provost aircraft. The museum also runs a programme of fascinating exhibitions exploring the wealth of aviation’s remarkable heritage as well events suitable for all ages.

Current Exhibition: ‘High Flying Women’

First displayed in 2017 and revisited for 2024, this popular exhibition tells the fantastic stories of the women who fought against adversity to achieve aviation history.

 

 

 

 

 

 

‘A Tale of Two Apprentices’

Our previous exhibition will showcases the experiences of two young men, Herbert Tomlin and Frank Whittle, who both joined the RAF as ‘Boy’ entrants and were trained as apprentices in technical trades and completed their apprenticeships at the Boys’ Wing, RAF Cranwell.

Make It Mondays – Family Craft Sessions

Attention all aviation enthusiasts and families looking for some half-term fun! Join Cranwell Aviation Heritage Museum for their ‘Make It’ Monday sessions.

Every Monday throughout the half-term break, there’ll be exciting aviation-themed craft activities suitable for all ages. From making your own paper planes to growing cress, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. ??‍?‍?‍?
