Located adjacent to the River Witham in the midst of open fen farmland, yet within easy reach of Lincoln, Woodhall Spa, Boston and Skegness, this area is one of England's best kept secrets. The Inn was initially established as a ferry house to the village of Southrey across the river and became famous as a fishing centre and venue for major fishing competitions.
We still have numerous fishing pegs plus there are several fishing lakes in the area.Within easy traveling distance of the historic city of Lincoln with its wonderful Cathedral (magnificent when lit at night) cobbled streets, excellent shopping areas and in December, its Christmas market. A four day event, its the biggest Christmas fair in Britain and a must to visit! We are also situated in the heart of the Second World War RAF bases and Air museums.
The famous Battle of Britain flight aircraft, the Red Arrows who are stationed here, not to mentioned the AWAK's at RAF Waddington. In June every year Waddington is the base for a spectacular Air show and people travel from all over the country and abroad to take part. The bar area has a unique warm and friendly atmosphere, in a traditional country public house theme. Run by the whole family, the pub experiences seasonal changes from roaring log and coal fires with pleasant low key background music in spring and autumn, through to pub quizzes, beer festivals, and live acts throughout the summer.
A traditional free house serving guest beers & real ales. It was built in the last century and has oak beams, open log fires and is steeped in atmosphere and fishing traditions. We serve traditional home cooked foods offering generous portions.
Our 'Specials Board' has foreign influences. We offer Bar Snacks or a full menu which can be served in the bar or in our separate 'non-smoking' dining room. The rear of the pub and restaurant has a huge play area for the children. With swings, slides, a wendy house and lots of toys. You can be sure you won't be interrupted by the children whilst enjoying a good meal or a few pints of real ale.
